I’m a retreat junkie. I discovered about ten years ago that I could accomplish as much in two weeks in a place dedicated to artists as I can in several months at home. Since then I’ve re-treated myself to these get-aways at least once a year and I’ve found that I come back refreshed, renewed and validated in what I’m doing.
I arrived at Wallace Stegner House in the Cypress Hills of southern Saskatchewan yesterday. So far I’ve done little writing, but I feel as relaxed as if I’d been here for weeks. In fact, walking through the house when I arrived yesterday I felt such a strong sense of famliarity that I’m wondering which ghosts compelled me to come here. I am so grateful to the Eastend Arts Council for making this possible.
